George Toriello sent me this material on Andrew Joseph Hunter on January 5, 2020:  
Andrew Joseph Sunter’s name is not listed on the Hackensack High School Wall Unit, but is on the Plaque at City Hall in Hackensack, which lists those men who gave the supreme sacrifice during World War II


Andrew Joseph Sunter was born in Maryland on November 16, 1921. The 1940 Federal Census states Andrew Joseph Hunter was living at 112 Hackensack Avenue, Hackensack, New Jersey and he would have been 19 years old at the time.


Andrew Joseph Sunter enlisted in the Army Air Force in Teaneck, NJ on September 16, 1940, about 14 months before Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Andrew Joseph Sunter rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant with the 362nd Fighter Squadron, 378th Fighter Group.  He flew a P-47 Thunderbolt. Andrew Joseph Sunter was Killed in Action in France on October 17, 1944. He was repatriated to Arlington National Cemetery on December 29, 1948. 

Andrew Joseph Sunter would have received the Purple Heart for his sacrifice.
